Hi Christy! Welcome to planDisney!
Oh boy! How fun! There is nothing better than a spontaneous trip to the
Walt Disney World Resort! My family has done this on many occasions, especially since we are within a reasonable driving distance. Since you are coming in from Georgia, I have a feeling you are in a similar situation.
I took a peek at availability for this weekend at all the
Disney Value Resorts Hotels and did not see much available. This is a busy time of the year with many children being out of school for Spring Break. I recommend heading over to the Walt Disney World website yourself and plugging in the dates of travel. Availability is constantly changing, so a room may pop up at a resort you want to stay at. You can also
call the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations line and speak to a Cast Member directly. They will be happy to provide any up-to-date booking information.
Another option to consider is one of the
Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels. These hotels are considered official Walt Disney World Hotels and do have a few of the benefits you receive when staying on-site. You're within walking distance to
Disney Springs and a ton of great restaurants and shopping. Although these hotels do not offer standard Disney transportation, most of them have their own transportation to get you to and from the parks. And if you've happened to bring your car, you always can drive yourself.
If you plan on visiting the theme parks, make sure that you have purchased your
park tickets and have made your
park reservations. Now that a park reservation is required for entry, you will need this squared away before your visit. I took a look at the
Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar and there is limited availability at this time. Make sure to check this before committing to your purchase.
Christy, I hope you can find a resort or hotel that will be best for your stay. Have a magical time at the Walt Disney World Resort!
See ya real soon!
