Suheily, no question is too silly (or too Goofy) for the Moms Panel. And your question is a great one!
I want to help you fulfill your birthday dream. You are finding out that all kinds of dreams can come true at Walt Disney World. I also know how wonderful it is to spend time with dolphins. We swam with these wonderful mammals on our honeymoon in the Bahamas, well, that was after we first spent a week at Walt Disney World. But don’t tell the dolphins, okay?!
Epcot does offer an opportunity to help complete your dream while not having to take swim lessons. The
Dolphins in Depth tour is an in-depth behind the scenes experience which will only add to your appreciation of these magnificent mammals.
There are a few rules:
No expectant mothers.
You must be over 13, and if under 18, an adult must participate with you as well.
Bring your own swim suit.
No cameras or camcorders allowed.
This is a 3-hour tour (why did the Gilligan’s Island theme song just run through my head?) starting at 9:45 a.m. on weekday mornings. It meets at the Guest Relations window just outside of the Epcot entrance.
A wetsuit and booties will be provided. You’ll be in waist deep water for approximately a half hour but no swim skills are required. Also provided are showers, shampoo, soap and towels. You will get a keepsake photo with the dolphin, a beverage and a t-shirt. The last published rate was $150.
The dolphins are not required to participate in these sessions but they are usually as curious about humans as we are about them. Non-swimmers should know that the instructors are very helpful. With only 8 people per day allowed on this tour, your interaction with the instructors and trainers is invaluable.
This is a great dolphin interaction rather than a dolphin swim. I think it would be a perfect way for your dolphin dream to come true!
