From what I can see online, Magic Kingdom looks almost identical to Disneyland in California. Since we live in CA and have been to DL many times, is it worth going to MK on our first (and possibly only) trip to WDW? I've got a 2yr old & 14yr old. Thank

    Hi Christine,

I'm so glad you and your family are headed over to the magic on the east coast! I personally think that you should absolutely go to Magic Kingdom for at least one day. While there are a lot of duplicate attractions to Disneyland, many of them are slightly different. On top of that, there are also attractions and shows that you cannot find at Disneyland.

Here is a list of some attractions that are simliar, yet have a different perspective/experience:

    • Haunted Mansion - completely different exterior look and Walt Disney World's version has a few extra "rooms".
    • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - very similar in look, but has more drops and is slightly longer at Walt Disney World.
    • Jungle Cruise - pretty much the same, but you do go into a "temple" scene that isn't part of the attraction in Disneyland.
    • Space Mountain - although both have gone through recent refurbishments, Walt Disney World's version features single row ride vehicles, which in my opinion, provides a different perspective.

Now, let's talk about a few of those attractions/shows that you will not find at Disneyland that are pretty amazing, if I do say so myself.

    • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - brand new ride with rocking ride cars.
    • Enchanted Tales with Belle - an interactive show that calls for little guests to volunteer.
    • Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid - see Ariel and friends as this ride tells her story with some great animatronics and the classic soundtrack.
    • The Barnstormer - Ride with the Great Goofini in this miniature roller coaster that your 2 year old may or may not be tall enough to ride.
    • Festival of Fantasy Parade - in a word, awesome!

So, please consider enjoying a little time in Magic Kingdom. I don't think you'll regret it.
