Bright Suns, Laura! Welcome to planDisney.
Building a lightsaber at
Savi's Workshop is one of my very favorite experiences at the Walt Disney World Resort. I had tears streaming down my face at the end when we activated our sabers - it's a magical moment that will make any Force-sensitive Guest feel some feelings!
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble making a reservation for Savi's Workshop for your upcoming visit to the planet of Batuu at
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. That reservation is more in demand than the plans for the Death Star that Princess Leia was keeping safe!
To comply with health and safety measures, Savi's Gatherers are operating the workshop at reduced capacity, which means spots are even more limited than usual.
Here's how it currently works: Savi's Workshop reservations become available at 5:45 a.m. EST each day. If you will be staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you will be able to make your dining and Enchanting Extras reservations
60 days in advance of your check-in date for the length of your stay, up to 10 days. When I made my reservations last week, Savi's Workshop spots opened up at 5:45 a.m. sharp. (Most dining reservations become available at 6:00 a.m., but I recommend beginning to check as soon as the clock strikes 5:45 just in case.) If you won't be a resort Guest, reservations open up 60 days in advance for each day of your visit. It sounds like you logged in and started checking just a bit too early.
I checked availability for June 27, 2021, and at the time I'm writing, I don't see availability, but you should keep checking. Guests change plans all the time, and you may find the Force working in your favor. Perseverance is one of the Jedi's greatest skills, and Master Yoda advises you to continue with your quest for reservations.
May the Force be with you on your quest, Laura! Should you find yourself unable to gain access to Savi's, I do recommend stopping by during your visit to check walk-in availability, which is not guaranteed but is worth asking politely about. Another great spot is
Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities, which carries a selection of pre-made lightsabers, including replicas of some popular characters' sabers. It's also a really fun and fascinating shop full of wonders from throughout the galaxy.
'Til the Spire!
