I have one person from my friends and family list that says their plans are managed by someone else. How do I change that so I am managing them?

Welcome to planDisney, Natasha! It looks like you're arriving today for a magical vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort, and I know you must be so excited! With the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival in full bloom, the reopening of Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and perfect springtime weather, it's a great time to make some magic!

Natasha, it sounds like you are traveling with someone whose My Disney Experience account is managed by another guest. Once an account is created and managed by someone else, there is no way to directly change the guest who manages the account, but I can offer a little insight into a few options to make your plans connected and seamless during your trip.

Even if your friend or family member has a managed account, because you are connected to that account on your Family and Friends List, you can still share and add them to your plans, including adding them to your dining and resort reservations, selecting their Lightning Lane Passes, and viewing and sharing PhotoPass pictures during your trip. If the guest has any MagicBands attached to the managed account, they can still use them to tap into the parks as long as their theme park tickets have been linked to the managed account.

Another option I can share is that if this person is at least 13 years old, they can create their own My Disney Experience account and then request the manager to transfer ownership to the new account, which will allow the guest to log into the My Disney Experience mobile app to view and participate in plans during your visit. To complete this, have the guest create an account first and then have the person who manages the existing account update their information to transfer management to them directly. Here is the process for the manager to follow if you'd like to do this:
    • On the My Disney Experience mobile app, click the three horizontal lines in the bottom right-hand corner
    • Select "Profile" and then "Family & Friends List"
    • Click on the managed profile and select "Update"
    • Enter the email address associated with the guest's newly created account
    • Once they accept the invitation, the managed account will transfer over to them, along with any existing plans and MagicBands
Natasha, if you have any other questions, feel free to come back to planDisney any time and let us know! Since you're arriving today, if you run into any problems managing or sharing plans, you can also stop by and chat with the Guest Experience Team Cast Members at any of the theme parks. These helpful Cast Members can be found in each park (look for the blue umbrellas!) and specialize in troubleshooting concerns within the My Disney Experience mobile app! I hope this helps, and I'm wishing you a wonderful visit!
