Hi Jason,
Thanks for visiting planDisney! I see your visit is coming up in just a few days, so I’m happy you’re here for answers to your planning questions!
Once you redeem your first Lightning Lane, you can choose another Multi Pass experience from either category of Lightning Lanes, so you’ve got the right idea. However, the first Lightning Lane must be redeemed before choosing another Lightning Lane, so the late-arriving Guest won’t be able to choose a second experience from that first group if they haven’t redeemed one yet. In my opinion, I would book the experience from the first category for later in the day, when everyone can participate. Then, the party visiting the park early in the day can redeem other Lightning Lanes and
choose more experiences as they are available.
One option is to modify the Lightning Lane selections of the other Guest. After you complete your initial Multi Pass purchase, you can
modify the experiences for some or all of your party, so you can move that person’s Lightning Lanes later in the day, subject to availability. Then the party in the park can try to book additional Lightning Lanes to match up with the other person's selections, once again subject to availability.
Purchasing Single Passes is a good way to book a time for everyone to experience an attraction together. These are purchased separately from the Multi Pass, and you can choose a time when your entire party is in the park. This way, you can enjoy your morning knowing your group will enjoy a popular attraction together later in the day.
I hope this helps, Jason.
If you’re staying at a Disney Resort, your Lightning Lane purchase window will open seven days before your arrival, and if you’re not staying at a Disney Resort, you can purchase up to three days before your visit. After you purchase your Lightning Lane passes, keep checking the My Disney Experience app to see if any experiences become available leading up to your visit, so you can modify as needed. If you need assistance while you’re in the theme parks, you can find the
Guest Experience Team under blue umbrellas in each of the parks. If you have more questions, send them our way at
planDisney!
