One of our party has a life threating allergy to seafood, which includes fish, shellfish and moluscs we are wondering where is safe to eat with minimal risk of cross contamination, we wil lalso be using the dining plan

Hi Scott, and welcome to planDisney! I’m so glad you found us here and reached out with your question. Dining is one of my favorite parts of any Walt Disney World Resort vacation! I know that when food allergies are involved, it requires extra planning, so I am happy to help. Remy is busy cooking up some amazing dishes, and we want to make sure everyone in your party feels safe and comfortable when they sit down at the dinner table!

Rest assured that the Cast Members at Walt Disney World take food allergies very seriously, and there are protocols in place to ensure Guests with dietary restrictions can safely enjoy their meals. It will be helpful to look over the Special Diets Requests information and review the protocols before your trip. When you arrive at a table service restaurant, be sure to let the Cast Member know at check-in about the food allergies and alert your server, as well. You should be provided with a menu that includes allergy information. Then ask to speak with a Special Diets-Trained Cast Member to discuss the allergies and ask questions about the process used in the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination. When the meal arrives, it should have a visual marker that indicates the meal has been prepared for special dietary needs. If it doesn’t have this marker, be sure to ask your server. At quick service locations, ask a Cast Member for an allergy-friendly menu. However, you might be best to avoid quick service restaurants that serve seafood since there are so many locations that do not and would have a lower risk of cross-contamination. Menus are available online for most dining locations, so you can plan ahead and choose the restaurants where you will feel the most comfortable ordering.

While many restaurants across the resort serve seafood, some popular table service locations with a larger selection of seafood are Coral Reef, Cape May Cafe, Ale & Compass, The BOATHOUSE, Paddlefish, Flying Fish, and Narcoossee’s. These restaurants may still be able to accommodate your needs, but if you prefer to avoid locations that serve a lot of seafood, these would be some to consider skipping. Columbia Harbour House, a quick-service location at Magic Kingdom, also serves mostly seafood.

Scott, I hope this gives you some resources to plan ahead for safe dining at the Walt Disney World Resort. It is very possible to enjoy wonderful food served across the resort even with special dietary needs. If you have any other questions, please be sure to come back to see us at planDisney. We are always here to help and hope you have a magical visit!

Sending you faith, trust, and pixie dust,
    Casey
