if i were to get the one park per day plus water park and sports package could i for example go to animal kingdom for half the day then go to the water park half the day? or does the water park count as it’s own park?

Hi Rylee and welcome to planDisney!

You are speaking my language with the Disney Water Parks!  I have been splashing around the water parks at Walt Disney World since I was a little girl and when River Country at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort was still around.  I have had annual passes to the water parks for as long as I remember to currently, so I'm really excited to see that you're planning a water park visit for your next vacation coming up in a couple of months.

The Water Park and Sports Option that you can add to theme park tickets count as their own admission and are separate from the theme park admission.  You can use them on days you are visiting a theme park or on your non-park days, so if you are thinking of spending a half day at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park and then heading over to the water park, you certainly can!  That sounds like a great plan to cool off after a hot morning/afternoon at the park!

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is currently the only water park open and will likely stay that way in July.  Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite of the two because my family loves the Surf Pool, the main attraction.  My son is an adventure seeker, so he loves to swim out to the furthest point and then ride the waves back in, while my daughter enjoys going just about chin deep and jumping into the waves when they approach her.  Miss Adventure Falls is a fantastic family raft ride that can accommodate up to four Guests at a time.  It's so much fun to be able to ride an attraction together!  Castaway Creek, the lazy river is not to be missed.  We like to use it as our mode of transportation to get from one side of the park to the other or just relax and float our way around a couple of times when we need a break from the more thrilling attractions.

If you plan on visiting the water park more than once during your trip, I recommend purchasing a water park refillable mug.  You get unlimited refills for the day you purchase and can bring them back on additional days to reactivate them at a discount.  Since you'll be coming in July, you'll need to stay hydrated.  A bonus is that the mugs are super cute!  (Ok, I may have a Disney mug obsession and can't wait to get my hands on the new purple 100th anniversary Disney Resort refillable mugs at the hotels.)

Please stop back by if you have any additional vacation planning questions.

    Have a magical day!
