Welcome to planDisney, Dawn! My mom is also “Dawn from FL”, so when I saw your name pop up, I first thought this could be her way of surprising us with a Disney Cruise! Even though you and I may not be related, I have sailed in a similar situation as you, so I’m glad you stopped by with your question.
I confirmed with a
Disney Cruise Cast Member that as long as one parent or legal guardian is traveling, there is no need for any signed documentation from the other allowing them to sail. This remains true even if the parents are divorced.
A few years ago, I sailed with my (then) teenagers as a single mom, and I can attest it was such a bonding trip for all of us. While they enjoyed spending time in their respective
Youth Activity Clubs during the day (
Vibe for 14-17-year-olds and
Edge for 11-14-year-olds), we always came back together for our favorite activities, like family trivia and watching a movie on Funnel Vision by the pool.
Depending on the age of your child and the
type of stateroom you choose, they may enjoy trying out the different bed options, which could include a pull-down berth and/or a twin-size murphy bed that extends from the wall. And if you find yourself craving cookies and milk before bedtime, just dial up the
complimentary room service (available 24 hours a day) and your wish is granted!
I hope your upcoming cruise is practically perfect in every way. If we can be of any more assistance here at
planDisney, please don’t hesitate to sail back to us.
Embrace the magic,
Sami
