I have one older child and one toddler. when it comes to fast pass and reserving a ride that my older child can ride but my younger can not. what is the best way to do that?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Myranda! Thank you for stopping by and bringing us your question.

Did you know there are 25 attractions at Magic Kingdom that don’t have height restrictions? Just one of the many reasons I love this park; there is so much to enjoy together as a family! I remember visiting with my oldest when he was barely 18-months and I had it in my head that we’d just walk around and take in all the sights assuming we wouldn’t be able to ride much with him. Boy was I wrong! We had the most amazing time on his first visit. We even got to ride most of my favorite attractions. It was a magical trip!

Myranda, when we had our second baby, we came back and wondered how we would navigate the attractions that do have a height restriction, especially now having an older child that could and desperately wanted to enjoy. Thankfully, there is a service called Rider Switch that will allow the adults to take turns and enjoy the attractions they want to! Rider Switch allows your group to split up, and while one group enjoys the thrill rides, the rest of the group can spend time exploring the parks, taking a break, enjoying a snack, or riding something else! The first group will receive a paper FastPass+ once they’ve enjoyed the attraction that the second group can use when they return, allowing them to use the FP+ queue with little to no wait.

As you plan, it’s a good idea to filter the attractions by height on the website so you can have an idea where you will need a Rider Switch and plan accordingly. You can also combine the use of your pre-booked FP+ with Rider Switch. When you do, both groups will be able to use the FP+ line for the attraction.

I hope you have a magical visit! Don’t hesitate to come back and see us again soon. ~ Emille
