One morning I would like to take a taxi to cape May cafe from AOA. Do I need to request a taxi with a car seat for my 3yr old? In NY the child is allowed to sit on an adults lap is it the same in FL? I have been unable to find a clear answer. Thanks.

    Hi Sarah:

I've also seen unclear answers on this question.  At this time, I understand that Florida law requires car seats for your child but does not require the taxi to provide the car seats.  The car seat is your responsibility.

While it's possible a taxi will take you to your destination without a car seat since it's not the taxi's responsibility to provide a car seat, I would strongly consider requesting a taxi with a car seat.  Many, but not all, taxis have car seats available.

    Enjoy your vacation.
