Welcome back, Sarah. My panelist friends and I always appreciate the chance to help you with your vacation questions!
I definitely understand your desire to be prepared for any situation that might arise while you're at Walt Disney World. When my son was younger, he tended to come down with croup during our vacations. Once I learned to expect it and how best to manage it, I definitely felt more at ease. During one of those croup episodes, I called the
front desk of our resort hotel in the middle of the night to inquire about the nearest hospital. The Cast Member I spoke with was very helpful and offered to either call for emergency medical personnel or call a taxi and cover our transportation expenses. Offsite urgent care is available with complimentary transportation. If you'd like to program that number into your cell phone, it is (407) 934-2273.
If my traveling party included a person with a medical condition like the one you've described, I would do everything in my power before leaving home to learn how to appropriately respond to a condition-related episode. If the individual is an adult, he or she is probably equipped to provide that information. If the individual is a child, hopefully his or her parents can provide valuable input. Either way, it might be reassuring for you to know that each of the theme parks have a
First Aid center. Of course, if you experience a medical emergency, do not hesitate in calling 911, no matter where you are.
I hope that your trip is absolutely magical and that you don't end up needing this information at all, Sarah. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to help!
