Can I use one magic band for my regular park tickets and a different one for the Oogie Boogie Bash?

    Hi there, Tonya!

Welcome back to planDisney. It sounds like you are growing at least somewhat of a collection of amazing MagicBands+. I approve! These handy devices help make a visit to the Disneyland Resort surprisingly smooth and enjoyable.

I love the flexibility of using MagicBands+ at the Disneyland Resort. The Disneyland mobile app lets you link all of your MagicBands+ to your account. Then you may pick whatever theme park admission you'd like to assign to each band. To me, it's the perfect way to accessorize and share our bands within our family. If the sparkly one matches someone's outfit one day and another member of our party's outfit the next day, it's easy to switch which ticket is assigned to that band.

To manage bands, just find the MagicBand+ button under the "Account" section of the ☰ feature menu of the app. Use the '+' button to link a new band. If you are viewing the list of all of your bands, you can tap the small image of a band to bring up the carousel of all of your bands which lets you pair and manage individual bands. That view also includes an "Assign" button to set which of the theme park tickets or other admission types you would like to assign to that band. Or from the condensed list of bands, you may tap the blue link to manage assigning a ticket to a band. The blue link will probably either say "+ Assign to a Ticket or Magic Key pass" or it will have the Guest name and partial ticket/pass ID number that is already assigned to that band.

In the Disneyland app, both bands and theme park admission are linked to an individual's account. (Park tickets and admission may also be linked to multiple accounts. A MagicBand+ may only be linked to one account at a time.) Any band that is linked to your account can also be assigned to any ticket or pass that is also linked to your account. So yes, you may have different bands assigned to different tickets or even ticket types. That is true even if those tickets are for the same Guest. If you'd like, you may also choose to assign multiple bands to the same ticket or pass. I have both my "Disney Dad" band and a simple black band assigned to my Disneyland Magic Key pass. And as I mentioned above, you are welcome to switch things up as much as you'd like. That comes in handy during Halloween time, when we are using our tickets or Magic Keys during the day but then attending Oogie Boogie Bash in the evening. Without even removing our bands from our wrists, I can use the app to change the assignments on our bands to the party tickets instead of our other passes.

There are two "extras" about MagicBands+ that I love. The first is the special effect that may be manifest after riding select attractions such as Haunted Mansion and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! The haptic sensation and lights help to emphasize the exhilarating experience that just concluded. The second is the effects that complement many shows, especially select nighttime spectaculars. I love how the colors and haptics sync with the music and images. It helps me feel like I'm a part of the story too! What's your favorite thing about MagicBand+, Tonya?

    Have a magical time, Tonya!
