One of our grandchildren (age 3) has a language disorder and sensory processing issues. He may have difficulty with waiting in lines. Are there any accommodations to help with this if it becomes a problem. He has identified special needs .

    Hi Cathy,

The only thing better than visiting the Walt Disney World Resort is sharing the magic with special Mouseketeers in your life, so I'm thrilled to hear that you're planning a trip with your grandchild! You're going to love experiencing the magic with him and through his eyes!

As the mama of an Autistic Mouseketeer myself, I can tell you that yes, Disney does a fantastic job of making The Most Magical Place on Earth magical for everyone. There are lots of wonderful services available for Guests visiting with disabilities, and one that makes a huge difference for my family is the Disability Access Service (DAS). I'd encourage you to look into it, as it will allow your family to request a return time to experience attractions so that you can bypass the standby queues. There are some really exciting updates coming to the service this fall including the ability to register ahead of time, make up to two DAS Advance selections per day, and request your return times through the handy dandy My Disney Experience mobile app. DAS has been such a blessing to my family, and now with these improvements, it will be even easier to use this wonderful service!

Want a few more tips? I'd also encourage you to please feel free to pack anything that you feel might be helpful for your grandson. I usually bring snacks, a water bottle, headphones, sensory toys, and a sensory brush in case my son is having a tough time. Building in some downtime to swim at your Disney Resorts Collection hotel, enjoy a scrumptious table-service meal together, or just rest in a quiet location for a bit can be incredibly helpful, too.

Thanks so much for bringing your important question to us, Cathy. If you have any other questions or we can help with anything else, please don't hesitate to come back and see us again. I hope that you and your family have a truly magical vacation together and make memories to cherish for years to come!
