I only have one day at the parks to see the Lunar New Year activities and I want to know what activity I should make sure I don’t miss?

Hi there, Kayla! Welcome to planDisney. Let's get down to business to defeat the clock. With only one day to experience Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure, a little strategy goes a long way toward seeing, tasting, and celebrating it all. I'd love to help you maximize your time to the fullest so you can experience everything the celebration has to offer as you welcome the Year of the Horse!

Be true to your heart about what you want to prioritize. Whether it's food or spotting unique characters, staggering your timeline for the day will help you avoid missing anything. But for me, the top must-not-miss activity is Mulan's Lunar New Year Procession. Bringing honor to us all, Mulan leads the way in her Lunar New Year Procession, joined by Mushu, Chip 'n' Dale, and Horace Horsecollar, all dressed in their special festive Lunar New Year attire. These appearances are exclusive to the celebration, making each encounter extra magical. As she leads the way from Hollywood Land to Paradise Gardens, you'll also see graceful Chinese fan and ribbon dancers, powerful drummers, and lively dragon performers, all bringing the celebration to life with color and energy. This festive procession can be enjoyed multiple times throughout the day. My tip is to catch one of the later showings, as the lighting enhances the beautifully colored costumes and makes for a truly spectacular event!

As you divide and conquer your time throughout the day, don't miss all the delicious food offerings. Throughout California Adventure, you can sample delights like Hotteok-inspired Mickey-shaped waffles at Schmoozies! or Spicy Pork Belly Grilled Cheese at Pym Test Kitchen, giving a Korean twist to a classic comfort food. Most of these offerings are available via mobile order, so you can grab them with just a tap on your phone and jump right into the festivities. You can preview the delicious menu on the Disney Parks Blog to plan your tasting adventure!

Kayla, thank you for bringing your question to planDisney! I hope this gave you inspiration and a plan to make the most of every moment, from your first bite to your last bow. If you have any more questions before your trip, planDisney is always here to help!
