Hi, Mindy!
Welcome to
planDisney, and thanks so much for stopping by to ask your question. I’m happy to hear you’ll be traveling to the
Disneyland Resort with your family soon!
It sounds like you’ve already heard about the Disneyland Resort’s
Disability Access Service (DAS) program for Guests with disabilities. DAS is designed for Guests who aren’t able to wait for attractions in a traditional standby queue due to a disability or medical condition. It allows them and their party (up to 6 people total, including the person needing DAS) to receive a return time for attractions based on the current wait time.
A Guest whose disability is based on the need to use a wheelchair or scooter does not need DAS. Depending on the
attraction, you can either wait in the standard queue if possible or receive a return time at the attraction comparable to the current wait time. For some attractions, you can go directly to an alternate entrance. There are also special accommodations available for Guests in wheelchairs at shows, so see a Cast Member for assistance. If you have more questions or concerns about exploring the theme parks while in a wheelchair, please view the
Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities.
Mindy, you are welcome to inquire about registering for DAS for your son and boyfriend in one of two ways. The first option is to participate in a pre-arrival virtual meeting via live video chat. You would do this on behalf of your son if he is a minor, and your boyfriend would do it himself if he wishes to be considered for DAS. You can also stop by in person at City Hall in
Disneyland Park, the Chamber of Commerce in
Disney California Adventure Park, or a Guest Information location once you arrive at the resort. Either way, please be prepared to speak with a Guest Relations Cast Member in detail about your son’s specific needs and necessary accommodations to see if he qualifies for the program.
I hope this information helps, Mindy, and that you have a magical experience at the Happiest Place on Earth! Please send us any other planning questions you have.
Wishing you magic,
Courtney
