Hi James!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am so excited to hEAR that you will soon be embarking on your FIRST Disney Cruise Line vacation! Let me tell you, a Disney Cruise Line vacation is just as magical as visiting the Walt Disney World Resort and I know you will have a wonderful adventure with Captain Mickey!
I am so glad you asked this question because since
Port Canaveral is approximately one hour from Orlando International Airport, arranging transfers is a necessity! And planning ahead is the best way to go, in my opinion! With a later flight, I would probably recommend renting either your own car or arranging for a private transfer to take you where you need/want to go until it is time to head to the airport for your flight. On that final morning, Disney Cruise Line requests that Guests disembark the ship by 9:00AM so that they can prepare the ship for Guests that will arrive later that day. Disney Cruise Line transfers only take Guests to Orlando International Airport, so you likely would be stuck hanging around the airport for the duration of the day until you could check-in for your flight. When we have been in this situation, we have opted to secure a one-way car rental from a local car rental company (there are some that will pick you up from the cruise terminal) and then returned it to the airport drop off location.
As you continue planning for your vacation, please come back and visit us with more questions! Oh, and be sure you’ve set a reminder for 75 days prior to your sailing when your
Online Check-In and onboard booking window opens!
Happy Sailing!
