Hi! We would like to do one of the animal tours on our next visit (up close with rhinos or starlight safari). Do you book these exactly 60 days from the date or is it like dining reservations where you can book 60 days plus up to 10 days for your stay?

Hiya Karen! Welcome to planDisney! I'm happy you have decided to stop by!

Oh boy! A Walt Disney World vacation is on the horizon and there is no better way to make your stay even more magical than adding a few Enchanting Extras to your trip! There are countless options to choose from, ranging from learning about cocktails at the La Cava Experience or at Sangria University to fishing and golfing around the Resort. But the various tours that are offered across all of the parks are such a special way to enhance your trip.

Both the Up Close with Rhinos Tour and the Starlight Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge are fantastic options to learn more about the animals at Walt Disney World. The fact that Animal Kingdom Lodge has a savanna surrounding its property is magical in its own right! To answer your question, you can book these experiences up to 60 days in advance but it does not work the same way that Advanced Dining Reservations do. You will not have the additional 10 days thereafter if you are staying at a Disney Resorts Hotel. I did take a peek at availability for both tours throughout the next 60 days to get an idea of how quickly they book up. While there are certain days that do not show any availability, there are still many dates that are open for booking. I suggest being ready to go at the 60-day mark to ensure that you get the tour you are hoping for.

If you decide to spend any time at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, I suggest taking advantage of the amazing dining offered here. Between Boma - Flavors of Africa, Jiko - The Cooking Place, and Sanaa, you have some of the top dining options at all of Walt Disney World at your fingertips. The Indian-style Bread Service, coupled with views of the savanna, make Sanaa one of my top choices to try. Boma - Flavors of Africa is a buffet-style dining experience and packs in so many delicious options that it is impossible to try everything in one sitting.

Karen, I hope you have an amazing time during your upcoming visit!

    See ya real soon!
