    Once you have paid a deposit, do you have access to MDE or no? How are Character dinners reserved, do they need to be paid for upfront?

    Hi LaKisha!

    Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You can have access to a My Disney Experience account without having a Walt Disney World Resort reservation. Once you do pay a deposit on your hotel reservation or package and receive a confirmation, then it will show up in your MDE account. 

    To make reservations for Character Dining, you can make your dining reservations online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463). You don't have to pay for your meal upfront. Most Walt Disney World Resort restaurants require a credit card guarantee. So your credit card is not charged, but if you change your mind and need to cancel or change your reservation, you can cancel without penalty up to 24 hours in advance. If you are a no-show or fail to cancel, the credit card you used to guarantee the reservation will be charged $10 per person.

    Character Dining is our way to see our favorite Disney characters without waiting in line. My family's favorite is Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort. We adore Mickey and Pals, and my kids love a buffet - all-you- can-eat desserts! Don't forget to bring autograph books.
