My oldest DS will be turning 10 which bumps him into the "adult" category in the DDP - will the various restaurants let him substitute fries for "fancy potatoes" or perhaps omit asparagus from a pasta dish? THXS! you guys are the best

    Hi Mary,

Congratulations to your son on hitting "double digits"!  The staff at Walt Disney World restaurants are incredibly accommodating, and wherever possible, work hard to make guests happy.  In my experience, as long as an item is available, substitutions are generally not a problem.  I would just make your request(s) known when ordering.  I've had no problem having things grilled instead of fried, substituting veggies for fries (and vice versa), having sauces on the side (or not at all), items left out of dishes, etc.  I'm guessing your son won't have an issue finding/creating dishes that make him happy!  Another fabulous option for pleasing a wide range of appetites is visiting some of Disney's fantastic all-you-care-to-eat buffet-style restaurants.  Some of my family's favorites include Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Cape May Buffet (for a traditional clam bake that has loads of options for land lovers) and 1900 Park Fare (which is the only place on property I am aware of that has strawberry soup!)

    Have a wonderful trip!
