My oldest child if finally old enough to stay up for the fireworks for the very first time. We are going at Halloween time. Is there a dinning package or way to reserve a good spot for Halloween Screams? I want to make sure they get a good view.

    Hiya, Heather!

Welcome back to planDisney! We are delighted to work with you again as you plan more magic at The Happiest Place on Earth!

Hot dog! I love it when our little Mouseketeers finally seem to have enough stamina to enjoy having the best day ever at the Disneyland Resort, including staying up for an evening spectacular, what Walt referred to as a special "kiss goodnight." Something else Walt said was that "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world." While I do appreciate that it seems that there is always something new to look forward to each time we visit the Disneyland Resort, I also sometimes find it a challenge to keep up with all those fun new surprises.

Special experiences that come with a reserved viewing area for fireworks or other nighttime spectaculars fall in that less-predictable category of surprises. That is, we sometimes don't learn about the availability of such experiences until relatively shortly before they become available. And those experiences aren't always the same from year to year. One option that is generally always available for reserved viewing areas is booking a Disneyland Resort VIP Tour. That experience is not necessarily within my personal budget. So I'm usually on the lookout for other experiences that are more accessible to me.

To find those fun, new experiences, I recommend keeping an eye on the Disney Parks Blog. That's where new experiences are often first announced. You may also want to keep tabs on the Enchanting Extras Collection page and the list of dining events and packages on the Disneyland Resort website. For something during Halloween Time, I would suggest watching for updated descriptions and options coming from either Disney's Happiest Haunts Guided Tour or a Plaza Inn Dining Package.

My family and I experienced the new Women Who Make the Magic Guided Tour earlier this year. The guided tour portion of the experience was a wonderful walk through the inspiring history of many of the women who helped make Disneyland so special. And I was pleasantly surprised to learn the tour came with the opportunity to watch fireworks from a reserved viewing area. That particular tour is temporarily unavailable. But, as I mentioned earlier, being on the lookout for updates to the Enchanting Extras Collection would be a good way to discover changes to returning favorites or all-new experiences to enjoy.

I hope you find an opportunity that is practically perfect in every way for you and your little one, Heather. And, by all means, please do visit us again at planDisney. We'd love to share more thoughts on new and existing experiences we can enjoy during our visits to the Disneyland Resort.

    Have a great time, Heather!
