Mom and Child wearing Magic Bands

Hi, I have older magic bands from last trip to WDW in Sep 2015. Can these be reused on my trip this year Sep 2019?

Hi, Thomas! Greetings from the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thanks so much for stopping by to see us all the way from Down Under! Let's get you geared up for your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!

MagicBands are your key to the magic of the Walt Disney World Resort. They're your Theme Park tickets, FastPass+ entry, Resort hotel room key, and even your wallet! You could leave your room carrying nothing but your MagicBand, and you'd be set for a day of fun in the Parks (unless you're like me and need a sweater, a bottle of water, sunscreen, etc., etc., etc.).

Another great thing about MagicBands is that they're interchangeable. You can continue using any bands linked to your My Disney Experience account on future trips as long as the battery hasn't died. And there's the rub, I'm afraid. Disney estimates the battery life of a MagicBand is about two years. I have some that have lasted longer, but I think MagicBands from 2015 have likely reached the end of their days.

But if you're planning to stay in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you'll be able to order brand new MagicBands for your stay! As an international Guest, your bands would be waiting for you at your Resort hotel. If you're not staying onsite, you can purchase MagicBands and link them to your account. You'd be able to use them for Park admission and FastPass+ attractions, but not for charging meals or merchandise.

I hope this helps you plan a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, Thomas! Please come see us again if you have any more questions!

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
