Can an older magic band be reused that was purchased a couple years ago?

Hello Veronica, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with a great question.

I am so happy to hear that you will be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in less than a month. You must be so excited. I must tell you that I absolutely love to collect MagicBands. They are an awesome piece of wearable technology. They give you access to your theme park admission tickets, allow you to redeem FastPass+ experiences and add photos to your Disney PhotoPass account. If you are a guest of a select Disney Resort Hotel, you can unlock the door to your room as well as charge food and merchandise to your room account.

Depending on when you purchased your MagicBand, you may still be able to use it on your upcoming trip. The single-use battery in your MagicBand is usually good for up to 2 years. Unfortunately, the battery cannot be replaced, but your MagicBand can then become an awesome collectible item. I have grown attached to a few of my limited edition MagicBands, especially the ones that make cool sounds and colors when they are used. My advice to you is to carry an extra complimentary or another recently purchased MagicBand with you as a backup. As the battery begins to fade, your MagicBand my miss your onboard ride photos or videos. You also would not want to miss redeeming a FastPass+ experience due to a MagicBand that is not working. Be sure to check out the selection of new and limited edition MagicBands available online or while you are shopping at Disney Springs or in a theme park.

    See ya real soon,
