    Hello! How old do you have to be to participate in the Castaway Cay 5k? On one site I read 12 and another says 10. My son will be 11 and I would love to do this with him!! This is his first cruise and I want him to experience as much as possible! Thanks!!!

    Hi there, Ashleigh!

    Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  I am so excited to hEAR you have a Disney Cruise Line vacation planned!  You have chosen a FANTAStic itinerary and will definitely get to see and do so much during your week at sea!

    Your son is going to have just the best time and I love that you are so excited for him and all the fun things that he will get to experience.  Being able to share in his excitement will make it so special and you will make some wonderful memories during this vacation.  Castaway Cay is one of my favorite places to visit when cruising with Captain Mickey and the Castaway Cay 5K is my most favorite thing about it (close second would be the yummy barbecue lunch at Cookies BBQ)!  I always look forward to getting out there – rain or shine, I’ve done it both ways – and explore the island before hitting the beach for some fun in the sun!  Plus, then I feel that I have “earned” that extra large chocolate chip cookie from Cookies!  Currently, the minimum age for participation in the Castaway Cay 5K is 10 years old, so your son should have no problem being an active participant!  Registration is done once onboard at Guest Services and I do recommend registering early to secure your race bib!

    Your son will also really enjoy being able to visit both the Oceaneer Club and Lab and the tween club, Edge!  He is at the perfect age where he can, if he wants, go to both!  Lots of fun games, activities and new friends await him in the Youth Clubs!
