Hi William,
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney! My kids are still on the younger side, but I can’t wait for the day they can ride attractions together. And sometimes I think my kids know the theme parks well enough that they would be perfectly fine on their own, but then I realize we’d be going to all the same places! From
Space Mountain to
DOLE Whips, I’d be just a step behind them the entire day.
You are correct that Guests ages 7 and older can sit together on attractions. However, Guests under age 14 must be accompanied by a Guest aged 14 or older in the theme park. When it comes to waiting in attraction queues, the
Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules state that to board an attraction, children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by a person 14 years or older. So, you have a few more years before they can roam freely around the theme parks.
Now I'm thinking of other ways to give my kids more independence at Walt Disney World. During the planning stage, I like to ask my kids to pick restaurants and in what order they want to visit the theme parks. Once vacation is closer, they can help pick
Lightning Lane experiences, or during our theme park days, which area of the park to head to next. If you like to get souvenirs on vacation, you can give each kid a
Disney gift card so they can use their own card when purchasing their chosen items. Although in my case, I’d still be the person holding onto the gift cards as we walk around the theme parks. When it comes to snacks, I keep a list of snacks to try and love surprising my kids with a
Sulley Slush or a Mickey ice cream bar, but your kids could be old enough to have their own snack wish lists!
I hope this helps, William. Enjoy your upcoming vacation with your family! Please come back to see us again at
planDisney if you have any more questions!
