how old do you need to board ?

    Hi there, Bryanna!

So glad to have you here at planDisney! One of the things I like best about cruising with Disney is the variety of entertainment and activities onboard for all ages. From the very young to the young at heart, there is truly something for everyone with Disney Cruise Line.

I’m assuming by your question that you are asking if there are any minimum age requirements for sailing solo. According to the Disney Cruise Line Terms and Conditions, you must be at least 18 years old to sail with Captain Mickey unaccompanied. Otherwise, minors under age 18 not accompanied by a parent or guardian must be accompanied by someone at least 21 years old in the same stateroom.

During any Disney cruise, there are Port Adventures and onboard activities that may be specialized for young adults. Guests ages 18 and up are also welcome to enjoy any of the adult exclusive spaces onboard the ship, including the nightclubs and lounges. However, be aware that Disney Cruise Line does adhere to an alcohol policy and will only serve those 21 and older with proper ID.

The lounges also are home to some excellent onboard entertainment: magic and comedy acts, games, and costume parties just to name a few. And the Silent DJ Party is loads of fun as Guests dance with headphones on while listening to different music channels. My final recommendations include the Quiet Cove Pool and Palo restaurant for the “Over 18” crowd.

If you fall within ages 18 to 20, you can participate in a group called the 1820 Society to give young adults a chance to meet one another and make connections. Check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for the daily schedule of these events and try to attend the first 1820 Society event. It’s typically an icebreaker and gives everyone a chance to get to know one another!

I truly hope that this helps you decide whether a Disney cruise would work for you and that you will say YES to Captain Mickey. If I can be of further assistance at any point in your decision making, cruise back to planDisney!
