Greetings, Victoria, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
This is a great question. I called Merchandise Guest Services to ask if it would be possible to keep the base of your current Ear Hat, but to have the ears replaced. Unfortunately, this type of service isn’t currently offered at the
Disneyland Resort. However, the Cast Member I spoke with recommended contacting a local seamstress to see if they would be willing to take on this challenge. Of course, you’d have to
purchase a new Ear Hat in order to replace the ears, but this purchase could help bring new life to the beloved pair you’re hoping to restore!
Another option would be to research a vendor in the antique restoration business. Perhaps they would be willing to make this refurbishment possible! As I write this, I can’t help but think of Woody and his gang in the antique shop in
Toy Story 4 – just like Gabby Gabby, I hope your Ear Hat can find a second chance, too!
To view the Ear Hats that are currently available for purchase,
check out shopDisney. I’m happy to report that
embroidery is still offered for an additional fee, either online, or in the parks. The Mad Hatter has a diverse selection of Ear Hats and Headbands, and can be found in two locations inside Disneyland Park, including
one in Fantasyland, and
one on Main Street, U.S.A. In Disney California Adventure Park, I recommend stopping by
Elias & Co., located on Buena Vista Street to shop for head gear.
As for embroidering your original Ear Hat, a seamstress may be your best bet. Typically, a receipt is required to show that the item you’d like to embroider was purchased at the Disneyland Resort. That way, if there’s an issue with the embroidery machine, the Resort will be able to replace the item more easily. Since your Ear Hat is no longer available for purchase, this would be a more difficult task.
I hope you’re able to find someone who can help you refurbish your Ear Hat… it sounds like a special souvenir you’ll treasure for years to come!
