Hello, Ferdinand!
Although MagicBand and MagicBand 2 devices from the
Walt Disney World Resort may still be used at the Disney Parks in Florida, only the new
MagicBand+ is supported at the Disneyland Resort. Although the purchase and use of
MagicBand+ are optional, it may be worth considering adding to your existing collection of bands.
I’m an engineer. So I love geeking out over the cool ways Disney Imagineers have applied technology to the Disney Parks Experience. The MagicBand+ is another way that enhances the magic in ways that I had never imagined before. To be honest, I was a little skeptical at first. I already wear a smartwatch and didn’t think that I needed to add another accessory during visits to the Disneyland Resort. Oh boy! I am glad I at least gave it a try.
I purchased a MagicBand+ for a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort earlier this year. I took that same band with me to the Disneyland Resort this past Fall and I fell in love with the
convenience. (Yay! No more pulling out my phone to scan my ticket at park entrances or
Lightning Lane queues!) But what really got me hooked was the little bits of magic the Imagineers sprinkled into the experience of a day at the parks.
You may have already heard of how MagicBand+ interacts with select
nighttime spectaculars and how it can be used in
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. What you may not have heard is that the band also interacts with select attractions and other experiences. I don’t want to spoil the surprises. But a few of my favorite MagicBand+ experiences are when riding
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! and when exiting
Haunted Mansion. There’s even a little patriotic pull at the heartstrings during the
flag retreat ceremony that might interest you.
With or without a MagicBand+, I hope you have a magical time at the Disneyland Resort, Ferdinand. Feel free to stop by planDisney again if you have any more questions.
