Can we use our old magic bands that are pre-magic band+? They are probably 4 years old. Thanks!

Hi Sharon! That’s such a great question! I’m glad you came to planDisney!

The MagicBand 2 (the official name of the band that pre-dated MagicBand+) is said to last for about 2 to 3 years. That being said, I have had bands that have lasted longer. You could consider taking your old MagicBand along to “try it out.” If it doesn’t work you could then purchase a new MagicBand+ and link it to your My Disney Experience. MagicBand+ can be purchased just about anywhere at the Walt Disney World Resort – theme parks, resort hotels, and Disney Springs!

Sharon, my best advice is to find a nice display location in your home or office to “retire” your older band. I keep all my old bands displayed in a large jar in my home office. That now brightly colored jar brings many happy memories!

In preparation for your June visit, I recommend purchasing a new MagicBand+. The band will be shipped to your home where you can charge it, link it to your My Disney Experience account, and pair it with your mobile device, all before leaving for your vacation.

The nice thing about MagicBand+ is that it is rechargeable and can be used for future Disney Park visits!

    Dreams do come true!
