Hi Jennifer,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you for your question! Congratulations on your recent marriage! I was in the same boat recently and understand how much time and effort goes into changing all those details.
Jennifer, if you want to keep your old
My Disney Experience account, you can simply change your name on the account. To do this, select the My Disney Experience dropdown menu in the upper right corner of the
home page. If you’re already signed in, select “My Profile”. Once you’re on the profile page, select “Account Settings” and under “Personal Information”, you can adjust your name there. This way, if your ticket and MagicBand are already linked to your old account, with the name adjustment you should be all set for your next vacation.
Now, if you want to delete this old account and just use the new one you created instead, scroll down to the bottom of this "Account Settings" page you’re on in the old account. You should see a “Delete Account” button, once selected you’ll be able to delete this account. Keep in mind, if deleted, any information associated with this account will be gone (ex. tickets,
Disney Park Passes, etc.).
The reason you might not be able to link your MagicBand to the new account is because it’s most likely linked to the old account. After you either delete the old account or un-link the MagicBand, you should be able to re-link it in your new account. If you decide to change your name in the old account, you should see that MagicBand under “My MagicBands and Cards” (found within the “My Disney Experience” dropdown menu).
If for any reason, none of the above solves the issue, you can always connect with the
My Disney Experience, MagicBand and MagicBand+ help desk!
I hope this “Bit By Bryanna” is useful as you prepare for your next Walt Disney World vacation. If you have any other planning or vacation questions over the coming months,
please feel free to reach out, I’m always happy to help!
The Magic Is Calling,
Bryanna
