can i use an old magic band to enter my room>

Hi Theresa, and welcome to planDisney!

It’s always a pleasure getting to chat with a fellow Floridian. I’m sending you a big sunny welcome as you get ready for your Walt Disney World Resort stay!

There’s nothing quite like walking up to your Disney Resorts Collection hotel room, tapping your MagicBand, and hearing that little click of magic that says, “you’re home.” Well, Theresa, I have good news! You can often use an older MagicBand to enter your Resort hotel room, as long as it’s still active and linked to your My Disney Experience account. MagicBands don’t technically expire, but their batteries can wear down over time, especially for the long-range features like ride photos that link automatically to your account. The basic functions, like unlocking your room and entering the parks, can usually keep working for years.

That said, if your band has seen quite a few magical vacations, it’s always smart to have a backup. You could use your phone with Disney MagicMobile service or pick up a Key to the World card at the front desk. And of course, there’s always the option to upgrade to a shiny new MagicBand+, which adds some extra fun with interactive features during shows and experiences.

So yes, dust off that old MagicBand and give it a try. If it still works, it’s like a little piece of Disney history traveling with you into your next adventure. And if it doesn’t, no worries! Cast Members will help you out with another way to access your room in no time.

Here’s wishing you the most magical stay, Theresa. Welcome home! ~Emille
