We have are old luggage tags for the Disney resort we are staying in back when we first booked. They haven’t sent us new ones. Should I use those?

    Hello Ken!

Welcome to planDisney, where Disney vacation experts send you real answers to your trip planning questions! Ken, since there are a few different things your question might mean, I’m going to answer a few different ways, and hopefully, we can get you the correct answer. At this time, the Walt Disney World Resort does not send luggage tags to Guests in the mail, so you shouldn’t be looking for them.

I’m not sure when exactly you first booked, and it may have been before the COVID-19 shutdown or after, and that may affect the answer. If by luggage tags, you mean the cute, animation Mickey and friends tags that you can manually write your name and address on and attach to your luggage, you are welcome to use those on your upcoming visit. The grey one with Minnie kissing Mickey is my favorite! Those types of luggage tags aren’t tied to your reservation specifically and truly are a complimentary souvenir that was gifted to Guests that booked a vacation package. While they used to be mailed to your home along with your MagicBands, they are now picked up at the front desk upon arrival.

Ken, if you are talking about long, bright yellow sticky luggage tags that have your name and your Disney Resort Collection Hotel name on them, do not use those. This is what I think you may be asking about. Those yellow tags were sent to Guests using Disney’s Magical Express for many years. They were for the now discontinued luggage service where your bags would be picked up from Orlando International Airport and arrive automagically in your resort room several hours later. Since the Walt Disney World Resort reopened in summer 2020, the luggage service has been discontinued. If you will be flying into Orlando International Airport sometime in 2021 and using Disney’s Magical Express, you will need to plan to pick up your luggage from baggage claim yourself and bring it to the Magical Express with you. If your new trip begins after January 1, 2022, you should be prepared that Disney’s Magical Express has been discontinued entirely, and you will need to arrange your own transportation to the Walt Disney World Resort. You can consider a taxi, use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, or book a trip on the new Mears Connect bus service.

I hope this helps to answer your question, Ken. If it doesn’t feel free to send me another question with more details. Wishing you a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
