Hi Kelly!
Your family must be beyond excited right now since you will soon be at
Walt Disney World for a Halloween vacation. You are also staying at one of my favorite DVC resorts, the Old Key West Resort.
I love that you are bringing your infant with you on the vacation. I just had this conversation yesterday with someone who said little children shouldn’t come. I strongly disagree and having brought my own young children as early as 11 months and my grandchildren as young as 3 months I would not trade each of the experiences for anything. You will document their trips in photos and share them later in their lives.
You will find that all of the four parks will offer attractions that infants can enjoy. The Magic Kingdom will have the most opportunities from things such as Dumbo, Small World, Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh and of course the character experiences. At that age they might start to be a little timid of “strange” characters but you can hold them and give them your comfort as they explore new people.
Obviously you will avoid the thrill type rides with a small child as there are height limits on those. You might also consider avoiding anything with loud noises and if your child does not like dark rides avoid those such as Haunted Mansion. If they are in a fussy time avoid the long movie type attractions such as PhilharMagic.
You will know your child and it’s likes and dislikes better then anyone else and can always ask cast members stationed at each attraction for more information. I have found so many things to enjoy with infants and have had great days in the parks. I am sure you will love your Disney week and it will just be the first of many Disney vacations through the years!
