Hi Bethany!
Thanks for reaching out to the Moms Panel! Staying at
Disney's Art of Animation Resort is still on my
Disney bucket list. I have yet to stay there, but it is a resort I've been very much looking forward to lounging at..someday. :-)
Disney's
official property rules when it comes to minors are more tied to their theme parks. This is
their official verbiage:
"Children should be supervised. Guests under age 14 must be accompanied by a Guest age 14 or older to enter a theme park, water park or NBA Experience."Although it doesn't explicitly state the same for resort hotels, I generally use the same rule of thumb wherever I am on Disney property with my children. That being said, staying at Disney resorts countless times, I have seen children of various ages wondering around by themselves. For me, I always err on the side of caution and safety. My son is 12, but I still make him walk with his 16 year old sister if they go anywhere in the resort without Mom or Dad.
In the end, my suggestion is that parents use their best discretion when it comes to children moving around by themselves, always keeping safety at the forefront.
May you and your family have a magical time at
Disney!
Terry
