Hey There, Hi There, Ho There, Allison!
You're as welcome as can be here at planDisney –– thanks for dropping by with another question. Can you believe that you'll be arriving at Walt Disney World Resort in just over a month? Like you, my family has a visit planned for mid-January and we're definitely counting down the minutes over here. While it might still seem far away, I have a feeling that it's going to be here before you know it!
If you're looking to maximize the fun during your stay, you can't go wrong with the phenomenal cosmic powers of Disney Genie+ –– the service is a great way to enjoy some of your favorite attractions with shorter-than-normal wait times, which is always a
huge plus for my crew. But while the Disney Genie+ Lightning Lanes and Individual Lines can be a great addition to your visit, it can be tricky to understand exactly how they work, especially before you've had a chance to experience using these services for yourself. So let me walk you through the Disney Genie+ ins and out to help you make the most of your time during your visit to
The Most Magical Place on Earth.
When it comes to Lightning Lane access, you have two options:
Disney Genie+ Lightning Lanes and Individual Lightning Lanes. While both options can be purchased in the
My Disney Experience mobile app and work the same for entering the lane and enjoying the attraction, the way you purchase these services and book your selections is a little different for each one. Most attractions at the four Walt Disney World theme parks can be accessed through the Disney Genie+ service. This can be purchased beginning at midnight on the day of your visit and your first Lightning Lane selection can be made beginning at 7 AM. Then, you can make your next selection after you've tapped into your first Lightning Lane or two hours after the park opens, whichever comes first. After that, you'll be able to make an additional selection every two hours throughout the day (I recommend setting an alarm on your phone so you don't have to worry about constantly checking the time).
Along with those Genie+ Lightning Lanes, you'll also have the option to purchase Individual Lightning Lane access for the most popular attractions in each park. You can also buy up to two of these lanes each day, and you aren't required to purchase the Disney Genie+ service to access them. Unlike Genie+ Lightning Lanes, these are one-and-done –– you can purchase access for up to two attractions, once per day (in other words, you can't purchase access to the same ride twice). If you're staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel during your visit, you'll be able to begin making your Individual Lightning Lane selections beginning at 7 AM each day. If not, all other Guests can begin making their selections once the park opens.
I hope this helped to answer your question, Allison, but please don't hesitate to stop back by planDisney if you need more information. I'm wishing you lots of pixie dust during your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort!
See Ya Real Soon,
Amy
