OK Panel, next planning question. Father/Daughter HS Graduation Celebration trip. Counter service for lunches, because we don't want to be slowed down! With a dinner at Sci-Fi Dine-In, what is your non-burger lunch recommendation in Hollywood Studios?

Welcome back to planDisney! We are sure glad to see you back Douglas. I love to travel at hyper speed while at the parks so you’ve got the right guy for the job.

Douglas, I have two daughters as well and have taken both to Hollywood Studios on daddy daughter trips. Let me tell you these kids do not like to slow down. A table service meal would mean they don’t get as many attractions in, so we love to use Mobile Food and Beverage Ordering to maximize our time. Whether you are an aspiring wine enthusiast, cook, knitter, or just plain old curious about Batuu, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge completely immerses you. You go from regular park goer to a rebel spy in minutes, so be on the lookout for the First Order. They walk around harassing people with a lot of knowledge, so be careful out there. I will entrust you with the location for a non-burger counter service lunch, but don’t let Kylo Ren use the force on you and extract this information. Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is where all the cool rebel spies have lunch. The Pirjanad Hot Chicken Tip Yip is my go to meal at this establishment. But be careful this chicken bites back, if you aren’t afraid of a little bit of space spice you should enjoy it thoroughly. Served with white rice, plantains and shishito peppers, this meal is the opposite of your typical burger counter service meal.

If traveling to “a galaxy far far away” is not what you had planned for this graduation celebration, then my second recommendation is heading to Toy Story Land to Woody’s Lunch Box. This combo of entrée and side will be perfect if your October visit is a little chilly. “Totchos” are potato barrels, covered in beef and bean chili, tomatoes, corn chips, sour cream, and green onions. Order a side of tomato soup to go with it and you will be as good as a brand new toy out of the box after this meal. The other entrée I usually get here is the smoked turkey sandwich, which also pairs perfectly with that tomato soup.

I know you mentioned you didn’t want to be slowed down, but what I will recommend is slowing down to take in those moments on this trip with your high school graduate. The same way Andy slowed down playing with his toys, you’ll start to notice the one-on-one time will start to fleet at this age. The special moments where you act like a kid with her on this trip will be memories you both will hold for a lifetime. Take selfies, a lot of selfies. Take all the corny PhotoPass pictures, even if she is embarrassed. When I took my high school senior on our one-on-one trip in October of 2023, I thought she would try and act like an adult. She surprised me and went back to my little 4 year old that I took on our first one-on-one trip 14 years prior. Truly memories I will cherish in my memory vault for years to come.

I hope these recommendations help you fly through the parks and hit every attraction on the must-do list. We look forward to having you back at planDisney anytime!

    See ya real soon,
