How often do the internal buses at Ft. Wilderness come around and what is the travel time to the main stop? And do you know what hours the internal buses operate? Trying to decide if the golf cart rental of $60 per day is worth it.... Thanks!

Hi Randi! I am often a guest at the great Fort Wilderness Resort in Walt Disney World. My family loves the atmosphere and ambience this resort offers that is so different from any other on property.

The Fort runs a great internal bus system that starts around 6:30 in the morning and runs until an hour or so after the last bus from Disney Springs which is about midnight or 1am. You would have to check the Disney Springs schedule to know the closing time during your stay.

There are many bus stops so all cabin and camping loops have one in close proximity. The buses will run about every 15-20 minutes so wait times are short. They will drop you off either at the marina and Pioneer Hall end or take you to the front of the resort where the main bus depot is located. They also drop you off at the Trading Post and pool etc. Depending on how many stops you will have to take or if you would need to pick up a scooter or wheel chair which takes longer to load the trip to either end from the cabins is about 8 minutes. You can also walk throughout this resort on the sidewalks provided and if your cabin loop is close a walk to the front buses is only about 10 minutes.

The golf carts are not necessary but I will say they are quite fun. Maybe renting one for a day or two would give you the opportunity to take some rides throughout the many loops to see what is there. We love taking an evening drive in ours to just peruse the resort. This is especially true at the holiday times throughout the year as guests come and decorate their sites accordingly which is quite fun.
