I often see guest in photos with lanyards along with plastic card covering around their nect, do Disney provide the Lanyards or is that something you must purchase on your own

    Ahoy, Keisha!

Thank you for cruising back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel site. You are correct about seeing lanyards around guest's necks when they cruise. I do think that having a lanyard is a convenient way of keeping your Key to the World Card on you all the time. My kids have never lost a card yet -- and that's because, they're used to wearing a lanyard on their necks. Even our pictures onboard with the Disney characters MUST be taken with our Disney Cruise Line lanyards... it's like a distinguishing sign that you're not at a Disney Park. You're absolutely on the Disney Cruise Ship and you've got the lanyard on you to distinguish it.

As a first time cruiser, you won't get a lanyard at the check-in desk at Port Canaveral. But there are lanyards for sale in the onboard shops. You can also purchase a lanyard prior to your sail date so that you can put it on and slip your Key To the World Card in it during embarkation day. There are lots of Disney theme designs on the internet that you can purchase.

Having the lanyard works well while you are in your stateroom too. They're easy to hang on the wall and kids won't lose the card <aka... I won't lose the card! :-) >  On a port day, you can also easily slip your driver's license or ID behind your Key  to the World Card inside the plastic sleeve. You'll need both the ID and the Key Card to embark and disembark the ship.

I hope this helps, Keisha. Please let us know if you have any additional questions that we can help answer. We're always glad to help!

    Have a magical day,
