How often do they do free room upgrades, we are going to be at Walt Disney world in a couple of weeks and I was just wondering if I should call and try. What are your thoughts?

    Hi, Jessica!

Room upgrades at Walt Disney World are few and far between.  Resorts are often booked to capacity so upgrades just are not possible.  I have stayed at Disney Resorts countless times, and I think I was upgraded just once, and it was a small room change up to a pool view from a garden view.  If you have your heart set on a specific room type, I suggest you try to just book it to ensure you get what you want.

That said, it never hurts to ask!  I suggest you send a fax to your resort a few days before your arrival and note your room request.  Upon arrival, ask if there is any possibility of the room you requested.  The worst thing that happens is they say they cannot accommodate you and you still get the room you booked for your magical vacation.  Be as kind as possible in your fax as well as at check-in, as they will do their best!

I hope it all works out and you get the perfect room.  Good luck!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
