Hi! We are now officially DVC members. So excited! Any tips for booking our first vacation as DVC memebers? Our home is Saratoga Springs and we are planning on May of 2014. Thanks for your help!

    Hi Mindy,

Let me be one of the first to say "Welcome home" to Disney Vacation Club!

Planning your first stay as a Disney Vacation Club Member is really exciting. You can now book your stay online at the Disney Vacation Club Member Website. While this is a great feature and many members enjoy the convenience of being able to make their reservations online, I still like calling Disney Vacation Club Member Services to make my reservations. You can call them at 1-800-800-9800 and a cast member will help you though the process of making your reservation.

My suggestion for your first stay is to decide when specifically you would like to go on your vacation. Then, at exactly eleven months before you plan to go, call Disney Vacation Club Member Services and make a reservation at your home resort. This way, you absolutely have a place to stay. Since you are planning to travel in May 2014, your eleven month window will open up soon, in June of 2013. If you decide that you would like to try another resort, call Member Services Back at seven months ahead of your vacation to find out if there is availability at that resort. If not, you still have your reservation at your home resort!

I have a couple of other Disney Vacation Club specific planning tips for you. If you would like to add a Dining Plan to your reservation, contact Member Services to do so. You also might want to peruse Portable Perks for information on current discounts available to Disney Vacation Club Members to see if you would like to take advantage of any of those. Portable Perks is available for download from the Disney Vacation Club Member website. Please bear in mind that all perks are subject to change.

Again, Mindy, "Welcome home!" to Disney Vacation Club. I hope that this information helps, and please feel free to ask if you have any further questions.
