Greetings Harriet and welcome to planDisney. Tours are one of the most overlooked experiences at Walt Disney World Resort. There have been many tours over the years that have allowed Guests to take a peek backstage to see how Mickey Mouse makes things work.
Currently, there are no Imagineering-specific tours offered however there are tours that shed light on how things work which are all Imagineer-inspired and designed.
The most Imagineering information will be gleaned from
Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour where you walk through Magic Kingdom Park to understand and reveal the hows and whys the Disney Imagineers built the theme park experience. It is not run by Imagineers but is packed with details of the park's creation. We we went on the tour, we were given the ability to ask any question. No answer was held back. I would recommend this above all other tours for those wanting to know more about history and be behind the scenes.
At EPCOT the
Behind the Seeds tours take Guests through the Land Pavilion explaining how Disney is helping the environment and how they produce much of the food eaten at the on-property restaurants. You may also enjoy marine adventures through
EPCOT Sea Adventures.
At Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park,
Caring for Giants and
Up Close with Rhinos shows how these magnificent beasts live their days and are cared for by trained keepers while the
Wild Africa Trek takes you on a caravan and walking adventure inside Kilimanjaro Safaris. The Wild Africa Trek is one of my family's core memories and an unforgettable experience.
planDisney Pro Tip: While not an Imagineering tour,
Disney Private VIP Tours also take you backstage as you move around the attractions. We have found the VIP Tour Guides to be a wealth of Imagineering knowledge.
Harriet, I hope this information is helpful as you plan your Disney adventure across the pond at the "Most Magical Place on Earth." Please feel free to stop by again and
write me back directly for more Disney vacation planning tips.
Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
