Do you offer any military discount to a veteran that was drafted and served in the Vietnam War?

Hi Amy! I’m so happy to welcome you to planDisney. It is always a privilege to help veterans and their families plan magical Disney vacations. My grandfather was a Vietnam War veteran, so veterans of his generation will always hold a special place in my heart.

Disney has a long tradition of honoring U.S. service members, and there are currently two different types of military tickets available. These include promotional Disney Military Salute tickets, as well as non-promotional tickets with a military discount. In order to qualify for the Disney Military Salute tickets, you would need to have a valid Uniformed Services ID card. Eligible service members include active duty, retirees, and 100% disabled veterans, as well as their spouses. Without a valid military ID, you would be unable to purchase tickets. However, if the Vietnam veteran in your family is a military retiree with a valid military ID, they can purchase these Military Salute tickets at a local base or the Shades of Green Resort tax-free or at a Walt Disney World ticket window, where taxes apply.

If your veteran does not have a military ID but has DD214 paperwork, they may qualify for the non-promotional military discounted tickets. These can only be purchased at a local military base or the Shades of Green Resort. Shades of Green provides helpful information on their website regarding eligibility. If your veteran does not have base access, the only location to purchase the tickets would be the Shades of Green, as this offer is not available at Walt Disney World ticket windows. Also, what is very important to know is that, if their only qualifying paperwork is the DD214, they will only be eligible to purchase these tickets in January or September. I strongly recommend contacting the Shades of Green for more information on eligibility and pricing.

Amy, I hope this information is helpful as you plan your visit to Walt Disney World Resort! If you have any more questions, we hope you’ll come back and see us at planDisney. We’re always here to help add extra magic to your Disney vacation planning!

    With a salute from Mickey,
