In October we will be taking our very first trip to disney to celebrate our daughter's 3rd birthday. Can you provide suggestions for cost effective places to stay (geared to toddlers and young children) and things we can do for her special day?

Tanya, thanks for coming to the Moms Panel to get started with the planning of this memorable trip for your little birthday girl!  She is going to have the time of her life and you will come away with some very special treasured moments.

I have two suggestions for hotels on a budget that are themed perfectly for little ones. My first suggestion would be Art of Animation. This is a value resort, perfect for those traveling on a budget! The Little Mermaid rooms are amazing and I think she will love the Big Blue Pool from Finding Nemo is awesome. There is a splash area for kids and a zero entry pool is ideal for little ones. You can even hear the music underwater! There are also family suites that accommodate up to 6 guests in the Cars, Lion King and Finding Nemo themes. My next suggestion for a resort would be the royal rooms at Port Orleans Riverside. This resort is a moderate level resort, so a bit more in cost, but the rooms are regal and will make her feel as if she is staying with royalty!  If you choose this option, these rooms are limited, so be sure to request this "royal room" as early as possible!

As for special ways to celebrate her birthday, I would suggest a special character meal like Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary or the Storybook meal with the princesses at Akershus in Norway at Epcot. There is also a character breakfast at Hollywood Studios with various characters from Disney Junior! Be sure to mention or make note in your reservation that she is celebrating her birthday! Cast members always try to make these moments extra special! Don't forget to also get a birthday button upon check in and have her wear it throughout your trip and not just on her birthday. You will be amazed at the acknowledgment and special treatment she will get from the cast members! On behalf of all of us here at the Moms Panel, happy birthday to your little princess and I hope all her wishes come true!
