We are going in Oct for the 50th. It is also my wife's 50th birthday. She is a huge Disney fan. She has been dreaming of celebrating her 50th and 50th anniversary of WDW for years. What can I do that is extra special to surprise her and celebrate?

Hi, Amy! Welcome to planDisney! Allow me to wish your wife an early Happy Birthday, and a warm welcome to the fabulous 50s! I spent my big 5-0 at the Walt Disney World Resort, so I know we can make her birthday extra magical!

You want your wife to feel like the "Belle" of the ball on her big day, so let's start with your castle! Have you made reservations at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel yet? This might be the perfect time to book your wife's dream Resort hotel. For me, it was a South Seas getaway at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, but wherever you lay your head at night, just being in the magic makes any birthday special!

Of course, a royal birthday requires a festive atmosphere, and Disney Floral & Gifts has you covered! You'll find lots of floral arrangements and gift baskets to choose from, or you can contact a Dream Maker (Best. Job Title. Ever!) for a custom celebration that will knock her tiara off!

When you hit the theme parks, be sure to pick up a free Celebration Button from any Guest Relations location or most retail shops for your wife to wear. A Cast Member can personalize it for you, or kick it up a notch and have the artists at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe add a beautiful custom design for just a few dollars. Your wife will love all the warm wishes she gets as she sports her birthday button all day!

For an extra special surprise, how about an exclusive portrait session? Disney's Capture Your Moment gives you a 20-minute session with a Disney PhotoPass photographer for professional photos in the theme park. It's a memento of her birthday she'll always treasure.

Lastly, what's a birthday without cake? The Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake is a delectable delight, and you can have it delivered right to your table after an amazing birthday dinner. We got this cake for my son's birthday a couple of years ago, and I can tell you, it was delicious!

Amy, there are as many birthday ideas as there are, well, people with birthdays! My fellow planDisney panelists have lots of suggestions, too, so you're welcome to peruse our site and see if any of their ideas catch your eye.

I hope you and your wife have a magical birthday celebration! Please come back and see us again if you have any more questions!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

    Kathy K.

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
