Can the oceaneer club magic bands be used to find my child anywhere on the ship if they are NOT checked into the kids club? For example if we are hanging out as a family and our child gets separated, can we use the band to find them if they are lost?

    Welcome aboard, Ashley!

Getting ready for a Disney cruise? How awesome! We practically bubble up with delight when we hear Guests like you report that they have an upcoming sailing with Captain Mickey. What a DREAM come true!

It’s no WONDER that Disney Cruise Line gets top ratings in the industry, especially when it comes to families. A HUGE component of this is the imaginative, MAGICal play spaces overflowing with activities for kids. When you complete your Online Check-In, you can register your kids for the Youth Clubs. They will receive their Oceaneer Band upon Check-In and registration at the port and will be all ready to go once onboard!

The Oceaneer Band only works inside the Youth Clubs and enables the Cast Members to be able to identify which area of either Disney’s Oceaneer Club or Disney’s Oceaneer Lab your child is playing in using a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip in the band. (Isn’t technology amazing?) However, it won’t be able to help you locate them throughout the ship, so let me tell you about some other options that may give you peace of mind and allow them some well-earned independence.

There are Wave Phones located in each stateroom that can be used throughout the ship if you’d like your kids to have one of those and check back with you throughout the day on their whereabouts. If your children have smartphones, the best feature of the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app in my humble opinion is the chat feature. My teenagers can give me updates on where they are and even send cute Disney emojis, too!

If your kids are a tad younger, another idea is to purchase identification tattoos made by companies like Safety Tat. These temporary tattoos would provide enough information on the off chance that your kiddo gets separated from you while onboard.

We’d love to have you back here at planDisney to chat about Disney Cruise Line-my favorite subject. Ashley, WISHing you a FANTAStic cruise!

    Happy Sailing!
