We will be there for NYE which is a very long day. Is it permissible to bring a blanket, find a spot (not on a path or road), and just sit and play card games for a few hours while waiting for the 11 pm parade and fireworks?

    Hi Maria,

New Year's Eve can be a very exciting day in the Magic Kingdom. It also a very long day, and very crowded. While I don't think anyone would prevent you from bringing a small stadium blanket, I'm not sure there would be anywhere to spread out. The parks usually reach capacity, and there are very few areas where people can just spread out and relax.

I'm not really sure you can "claim" a spot with a blanket like you would at a typical parade, although it might provide a bit of cushioning if you plan on sitting on the curb to wait, just make sure it's not hanging out anywhere. A deck of cards is a nice idea, but you'll need to stay on the curb rather than spread out in a
    circle.

When Magic Kingdom is crowded attractions like Hall of Presidents and Carousel of Progress are great for relaxing and getting away from the crowds.

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
