Nov 2014 trip planned. Wanting to schedule now in order to make dining reservations asap. Hoping to get free dining later on when its announced, can I have that added to my reservation when its avai? If I pay in full, can I resc. if dates change? Thanks :)

    Hi Christy!

I love the free dining promotion too! I have my fingers crossed it will be offered again this fall ºOº.

There are two ways to make reservations for your Walt Disney World vacation. The first is to book a vacation package which includes hotel accommodations and other optional features like park tickets, dining plan, and flights. The other way to make a reservation is to book a room-only reservation which doesn't have any other features besides accommodations.

There are more restrictions with a package reservation than a room-only reservation. Because of this, I suggest making a room-only reservation for your anticipated vacation dates. Room-only reservations can be converted to a package reservation at a later date if you want to apply a special offer such as free dining and it is much easier to change vacation dates without penalty with this type of reservation.

Currently the room-only stipulations are outlined below:

    • 1 night's deposit due at time of reservation
    • Final payment due at check-in
    • May cancel anytime without penalty up until 5 days beforehand if booking with Disney Resort Hotel Reservations, or 6 days if booking online

One important item to note is that your reservation, whether it is a package or room-only, will not automatically have a discount or special offer applied to it. You must call and have the discount applied to your reservation. This is why I recommend making your reservation with a Disney Authorized Travel Agent who will keep tabs on the current offers and will re-book your vacation if an offer opens up that you qualify for.

Here's to hoping some Pixie Dust falls on a free dining promotion!
