Hi, Whitney! Welcome to planDisney!
Only two more sleeps 'til Disney! Although I bet it's getting pretty hard to sleep right now with visions of Walt Disney World dancing in your head! Let's get you ready for the magic!
It sounds like you were keeping up with all the news from the Walt Disney World Resort's 50th Anniversary Celebration. I was lucky enough to be there, and it was quite an adventure. You're right that park hopping to the
Magic Kingdom Park was paused on Friday for capacity, but I wouldn't worry too much that it will happen during your vacation. It was an extraordinary situation in that many Guests who had
Disney Park Pass reservations for the Magic Kingdom just stuck around for most of the day. It was the first time since the
Park Hopper Option was made available again that any of the parks had to pause hopping for the day, so I wouldn't necessarily expect it to be a regular occurrence. In fact, looking at the
Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar right now, every day but Saturday is shaded green, meaning all parks have reservations available. I think that's a good sign that park hopping will proceed as planned.
Having said that, in the event that one or more of the theme parks isn't open for hopping, Disney doesn't typically offer refunds on ticket purchases. During especially busy times, I'd try to make dining reservations in the park where you have your Disney Park Pass reservations, just to be on the safe side. If you do find yourself in a jam, you can always stop by Guest Relations and ask a Cast Member to walk through your options with you. Also, you can add the Park Hopper Option at any time (even during your vacation), but it's a set price no matter the number of days on your ticket. If you think you'll do any park hopping, you get much more value by adding it before you've arrived than after you've used some of the days on your tickets.
Whitney,
The World's Most Magical Celebration has just gotten started, so there's still plenty of fun to be had! I hope this helps you make the most of your Disney days, and that you'll come back and see us again real soon!
Keep Disney Dreaming,
Kathy K.
