Hi ... I noticed World of Color Dessert Party has no reservations from October 5 and after. Any idea why?

Hello, Cory, and welcome to planDisney! I love the World of Color Dessert Party – it's a fun (and tasty) way to end a day at California Adventure. Let's talk about reservations!

In October, you may notice some nights are unavailable for the World of Color Dessert Party. That's because California Adventure will close early on those evenings for the Oogie Boogie Bash. You'll see it indicated with a slash on the dining event reservation calendar. A circle and slash on a date indicates that there are no reservations available. There are fewer dessert parties this time of year, which means more Guests may be trying to get the available reservations. I took a peek at the reservations just now – there are still a few open nights in October at the time of writing this. Check again, and if you see a date that works, book it as soon as you can so you don't miss out. If you're curious about why reservations are not showing up for the last part of October, that's just because it's a little early – dining reservations usually open about 60 days in advance, and we're currently out a little further out than that.

Cory, if the dessert party doesn't work out, Hakuna Matata! There are still plenty of ways to add a little magic to your trip. Here are a few ideas:

    • Join the virtual queue for World of Color to secure a great spot to see the show on nights it is scheduled. As long as you've entered California Adventure, you should be able to join from the Disneyland mobile app around noon.
    • Enjoy Character Dining – there are a few extra festive options this time of year. My favorite is Storytellers Cafe, which offers a different theme for breakfast/brunch and dinner.
    • Create your own dessert adventure by trying some of the Halloween treats around the Resort. Head to the Disney Parks Blog and check out the Halloween Foodie Guide to look through some of your options. If you like pumpkin, you'll be delighted by all the choices!
    • Consider joining Disney’s Happiest Haunts: The Villains' Trail Guided Tour. This experience includes storytelling, fun facts, and reserved viewing for the Halloween Screams show.

Cory, may your trip be sprinkled with pixie dust, pumpkin spice, and lots of Halloween Time fun. If you think of more questions while planning, please reach out – we're always happy to help here at planDisney.
