I noticed that you can do a wedding cake tasting at Disney. How do we book our cake tasting and where is it held?

Why hello again Amanda, and a warm welcome back to planDisney!

I remember when you first asked about planning a Disney Wedding and I'm glad that you're back again so I could write all about Disney wedding cakes! At the present time there are no official in-person cake tastings; instead couples have the opportunity to order a Cake Tasting Kit to sample on their own time when they visit Walt Disney World Resort. Here's what you can expect with a few extra crumbs of our personal experience thrown in:

    • We received a Cake Tasting for Pickup form directly from our Planner for us to fill out and return via email, which included spaces to specify the date and time that we would come by to pick it up from the Front Desk of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
    • On the form we were given the option to select four of the following cake flavors: Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, Marble, White, Confetti, Red Velvet, Lemonade, Florida Orange, Lavender, French Toast, Churro, Espresso, Carrot with Walnuts, Toasted Almond, and our favorite, Pistachio.
    • We were also able to select five different filling flavors that included: Milk, Dark or White Chocolate Mousse, German Chocolate, Bavarian Cream with Strawberries, Cream Cheese, Pistachio, Raspberry or Strawberry Jam, Peanut Butter Cup, Caramel Milk Chocolate, Cookies & Cream ("The Grey Stuff"), Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch, Orange-Scented White Chocolate, Maple White Chocolate Mousse, Churro Crunch, Mini Chocolate Mousse with Mini Marshmallows, Amaretto, Baileys, Amaretto Almond Crunch, Tequila Key Lime Mousse, Grand Marnier White Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry Mousse, Florida Citrus Mousse, Strawberry Mousse, Tropical Fruit Mousse, Lemon Cream & Blueberries, Guava Cream Cheese and finally, Pineapple Cream. (They also included a sample of their signature plain Buttercream which is used to frost the outside of the cakes.)
    • As there is so much to choose from, we were able to order additional sets at a pre-determined price so that we could try almost all of them! I asked the Grand Floridian Bakery team who confirmed that Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings couples get one complimentary tasting kit, with any additional priced at $50 at the current time. The variety of flavors actually changed during our process and added new ones so this selection and the pricing for additional tasting kits is subject to availability and may change without prior notice, with the most recent price increase occurring in April 2023.
With the current renovations taking place in the central lobby, you may want to choose a quiet spot to sit and order drinks like Gasparilla Island Grill or the Enchanted Rose after picking up your Tasting Kit; the Cast Members were so helpful and provided us with additional silverware and napkins to enjoy our cake feast! (Alternatively, the samples seem to come pre-frozen and are neatly boxed up sot hat you can take them back to your Resort Hotel instead.) I can't wait for you to come back again for more Disney Wedding knowledge right here at planDisney!

Here's to having your cake and eating it too!
